Salty Sisters Awards Continued

Maggie Mug
1958

The Maggie Mug is presented to the winning skipper of the series. This series is sailed in a one-design class boat, preferably in the bay. Crew, once assigned, remains with the same skipper for the duration of the series.

Misfit Trophy
1966

The Misfit is presented to the winning skipper of a series of races for intermediate sailors who are ineligible to sail in the Jobin series. The series runs at the same time as the Chile series and consists of five races.

Skippers’ Hat Challenge
& Top Crew Trophy
2014

Only Salty Sisters who have been awarded their Skipper’s Hat may race. The series takes place in a two-person boat, with a spinnaker, although skippers may opt not to use the spinnaker. All teams of two, drawn initially by lot, are different each race day. Two races are sailed each day, with each Salty skippering once and crewing once. Points awarded for each race, totaled independently for each sailor, determine the winning skipper and winning crew.

Non-Racing Awards

These awards are presented at the Annual Meeting in October in recognition of special contributions by individual Salty Sisters to the club and its objectives.

Amy Joyce Uhler
Race Management Trophy
1994

This trophy was donated by Amy Joyce Uhler. It is awarded annually to the Salty Sister who, at the discretion of the Co-Captain, has made the greatest contribution toward race management.

Optimist Memorial Trophy
1995

The Optimist is awarded to the Salty Sister who, in the judgment of a committee of three or more Salty Sisters chaired by the Co-Captain, best exemplifies Elizabeth Priestley’s spirit of eternal optimism.

2005

This trophy is awarded to the Salty Sister who exemplifies the following qualities: contribution to the social aspect of sailing, good sportsmanship, leadership, organization, motivation, involvement and attendance.

FWSA Racing Awards

These awards are presented to the winners in the various classes of the two major FWSA Regattas held annually.  Participants are members of all FWSA member clubs.

FWSA Championship Regatta
1976

This fall regatta in multi-crew boats has been divided into a spinnaker and non-spinnaker class in recent years. Previously, the winner qualified to compete in the regional qualifier for the Adams Cup, a US Sailing national event which has been discontinued.

FWSA Rainbow Regatta

The Rainbow Regatta for single-handed racing is in the spring and is hosted by FWSA member clubs on a rotating basis. The pram fleet classes are International Optimist Prams (IODs) and Clearwater Optimist Prams (COPs). The third race fleet class is Sunfish. Pram trophies are awarded for IOD and COP teams. A third trophy is for Pram Masters,  sailors who must be at least age 60. There is also a Sunfish fleet perpetual trophy.

Each club provides a team of up to four sailors, each competing in a Clearwater pram (or the sanctioned equivalent thereof) who are scored as a team and individually.

Each club provides a team of up to four sailors, who each compete in an International Optimist Dinghy. They are  scored as a team and individually.

Pram Masters
Lucas Perpetual Trophy
1993

Sailors must be 60 years old, and there is no limit to the number of entries per club.  The Masters’ race is sailed in conjunction with the Clearwater pram team fleet and is scored on an individual basis over three races.  Pram Masters may sail as part of a club’s pram team or as an individual master.
